P1: Optical Charge Control & Quantum Detection of Proteins

The Quantum Nanophysics Group at the University of Vienna, headed by Markus Arndt is a leading team in Molecular Beam Research & Quantum Optics. We develop new quantum tools for biomolecular beam research and mass spectrometry.  

In your Master and/or PhD project you will be able to develop, test and utilize 

  • Cryogenic quantum detectors for massive proteins  
  • Advanced mass spectrometry techniques 
  • Single-photon charge control of proteins in high-power laser fields.
  • Slowing and cooling of proteins
